Description
The VNH5180A-E is a full bridge motor driver designed for automotive applications. It incorporates a dual monolithic high-side driver and two low-side switches, all using STMicroelectronics' VIPower MO technology. The three dies are assembled in a PowerSSO-36 TP package with electrically isolated leadframes. This package offers improved thermal performance and superior manufacturability.
The VNH5180A-E can be controlled directly by a microcontroller through the INA and INB input signals. The DIAG/EN and DIAG/ENB pins, when connected to an external pull-up resistor, enable one leg of the bridge and provide a feedback digital diagnostic signal.
The CS pin allows for monitoring the motor current by delivering a current proportional to its value. The PWM input, up to 20 KHz, controls the speed of the motor.
